Our bilingual primary school
Full-day and internationally minded

At our bilingual primary school in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg, your child embarks on an exciting educational journey in both German and English. Our immersive language environment encourages natural bilingual development while fostering strong communication skills and a deep intercultural understanding. At the same time, we cultivate a warm, family-like community where children feel supported and inspired to learn and grow.

"A truly immersive language environment - the heart of our approach

Through our well-established immersion concept, children learn German and English naturally and simultaneously. We use proven teaching methods that not only enhance language acquisition but also foster intercultural competence and broaden perspectives. Our goal is to nurture curious, confident, and adaptable young learners who feel at home in different languages and cultures."

Why families choose our bilingual primary school

1

Bilingual education

Through the immersion method, your child experiences a full "language immersion"—not only through traditional lessons, but by naturally and playfully absorbing the second language. In different subjects, children intuitively develop language skills with joy, guided by native-speaking teachers and educators as linguistic role models.

2

Teamwork & projects

Learning at our school is hands-on, creative, and collaborative. Project-based learning strengthens team spirit, fosters creativity, and brings knowledge to life—whether through extracurricular excursions or interactive group activities. This approach turns learning into an adventure while boosting self-confidence.

3

Holistic education

We go beyond academics by nurturing intellect, creativity, and social skills. Whether writing stories, exploring poetry, making music, or engaging with literature from diverse cultures, children develop self-expression and confidence. Presentations and student-led projects empower them to think independently and grow into well-rounded individuals.

4

Full-day community

Phorms is a school that fits your family’s schedule. Our campus provides a structured yet flexible daily routine, open from 7:00 to 18:00 (with after-school care certification). This extended care ensures a seamless balance between learning, play, and social interaction in a warm, community-focused environment.

5

Personal growth

Beyond academic knowledge, we equip your child with essential life skills—teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. Group work, presentations, and lively discussions create a strong foundation for future challenges, helping children become confident, adaptable individuals.

6

Small classes with two teachers

With two dedicated teaching professionals per class, we ensure high-quality education and personalised support. Smaller class sizes allow for more focused attention, helping your child thrive academically and socially.

Important questions
about our bilingual primary school

  • Do children need to speak English to join Year 1?

No, English proficiency is not a requirement for entry. At this early age, children quickly develop their English language skills. However, in this case, your child must have age-appropriate proficiency in German.

  • How do I register my child?

Registration is quick and easy—simply complete the online form on our website in just 5 minutes. Once we’ve received the necessary supporting documents and confirmed space availability, the admission process begins, tailored slightly to the specific class level.

  • Is it possible to join the school during the current school year?

Newcomers and late registrations are welcome, if places are available and the admission criteria are met. Please contact us for further information.

  • Is there after-school care?

Our primary school offers flexible after-school care from 7:30 to 18:00. In addition to the primary school contract, parents sign a supplementary care contract and apply for an after-school care voucher from the youth welfare office.
The cost contribution is income-based and depends on the scope of care and the number of children. For Years 1 to 3, after-school care is free, while from Year 4 onwards, a contribution applies. For more details on after-school care regulations in Brandenburg, please contact your local authority.

  • Does my child have to have already attended Phorms Preschool to get a place in Year 1?

No, attendance at Phorms Reception is not required. While we reserve primary school places for all Phorms preschoolers reaching school age, they must still complete the primary school admission process.

Approximately one-third of our Year 1 places are filled by Phorms children, while the remaining two-thirds are allocated to external applicants.
